Upon an intimate visit with the groom's mother on their wedding day, I heard her say "Don't Forget Me". The groom took his mother in his arms and spoke quietly to her. I remember hearing the sweetness in her voice and the softness in his. "I will Never. Ever. Ever. Forget You".

One of my favourite images from 2012's engagement sessions is from Terri & Rick's canoe adventure. They both love nature so we set out to one of their favourite places where they relax and spend time together...it also quickly became a favourite of mine. During their session I captured them caring their canoe down over their heads and setting off in the water to spend some private, reflective time together. A beautiful, relaxing day that captured just who they are.

I am always waiting on the edge of my seat after submitting to the {AG}WPJA. Competition is fierce and I am competing with some of the best wedding photojournalists from around the world. Some of these photographers I admire. Some of them inspire. I just have a great appreciation and love for storytelling, which is why I am thrilled and so happy to share my award winning news with you!!.... TWO International AWARD placements!! This is my 12th International award(s) from the {AG}WPJA.
This quarter, I have placed 3rd in "Details Found", where I photograph objects how they are found, telling a unique story (see the judged comments). It is complete opposite of a photographer setting things up to look pretty and perfect. After all, your wedding day is full of movement and people running around, especially in the morning, to get you out the door for your ceremony. This style is pure photojournalism, and it captures true storytelling.
My second award is from the "Getting Ready" category. Thousands of entries from around the world - Italy, Ireland, Brazil, China, Malaysia, Australia, USA, Poland, Russia, England, Singapore Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Scotland, Mexico and of course Canada come in each quarter, and the judges only take the TOP 20. I have placed 16th in this category from images around the world!
I love this photograph. This is the story of the bride getting ready in the middle of her morning rush. The limo had just pulled in, she excitedly sat on her chair as the last of her details were being placed on her. Her mother, knelt on the floor and helping her with her shoes, watched her daughter burn up with excitement and anticipation, maybe even a bit of nerves. Really, only this beaming bride will know what was going on in her mind at the time she reached over to pick up her vintage fan to cool herself down. The redness in her chest, the flowing hair from the fan's breeze and the chin up on the mother looking at her daughter reacting to the timing of the day is what makes this image for me. It really illustrates what this bride was experiencing that morning.
A special thank you to my clients! Thank you for allowing me the time and space to create these images for you, and trusting me to work quietly throughout your day, observing rather than directing. It brings great joy to my heart when I can tell your story the way it happened.
Congratulations to all my couples and Happy New Year!!
xo,
Jayme
